Extreme day trips allow you to travel anywhere—as long as you’re back home at bedtime
Naturally, travelers dyed in wool are dismayed by this holiday method. In April, content creator Kevin Droniak became viral for having made a New York day excursion in Cairo – ten o’clock in each direction – with followers in the comments calling him “impressive”, “destaté” and “evil”. “I think that is beating the goal of traveling somewhere,” said Shivya Nath, award -winning travel writer and author of The shooting star. “It looks like a very brand trip to Tick. Almost like peer pressure or internal pressure to check as many places as possible on your list.”
Dr. Nabila Ismail, founder of the travel dose of the Southern Travel Club, believes that when it comes to traveling, something is better than nothing. “I think it’s quite surprising that people travel in a way that corresponds to their schedule, rather than not traveling at all. A snapshot in the surface of a place is better than no instant in a place. ”
On its way to Portugal, Ismail stopped at the 24 -hour stand in Milan for the sole purpose of eating pizza and shopping. “New experiences are invaluable because it is so easy to get caught in the daily routine. Even with extreme day excursions, it is possible to learn something new, to slide outside your comfort zone, to discover a different culture and to shock your system, ”she says.
Earlier this year, Racheal Kaur, an assistant director of Indian origin in financial operations in Airasia, revealed that her journey to work implies taking a flight from Penang to Kuala Lumpur five days a week, accumulating a large total of 700 km each day. The mother of two wakes up at 4 a.m. to take the flight at 6.30 a.m. to Kuala Lumpur, returning at 8 p.m. to spend time with her children before turning overnight. Kaur claims that not only did this arrangement allow him to find a better balance between professional and private life by allowing him to see his children more often, but that has also reduced her overall expenses by eliminating the rent that she should pay to keep her housing Kuala Lumpur.
However, just as our eyes are first attracted by the most visually attractive article in a store, we must inevitably – even if it is not forced – we will reverse the price of these extreme day excursions. Although these adrenaline experiences are undoubtedly enriching the soul – and in the case of Kaur, affirming life – the cost of booking flight tickets only to spend a single day through the ocean can make us, less rich in the monetary sense. Supporters of “ travel mathematics ” can argue that money saved on accommodation balances these expenses, but there are no reassuring arguments to take care of climate cost: flights with short films are more with high carbon intensity that long-haul flights due to significant fuel consumption during takeoff and landing.
