Digital payment will be safer, new feature will be available in UPI

In today’s time, almost all smartphones users make digital payment via UPI (Unified Payments Interface). Until now, each time a person sends money to someone, he must enter a 4 -digit UPI pin, which is defined when creating an account. This system is definitely safe, but if someone comes to know your PIN code, it can withdraw money from your bank account. Such cases of fraud have appeared.
Keeping this in mind, NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) now plans to approve the UPI transaction of biometric authentication such as fingerprint or face digitization. The pin will be placed as an option, so that the user can choose the method according to his convenience.

How will safety increase with the biometric system?

Experts think that this change will bring security to a new level. It is often possible to fly or guess the pin, but it is almost impossible to copy the fingerprint or someone’s face scan. In such a situation, this method will be very effective in preventing fraud.
Rohit Mahajan, founder of Pluto One, said: “The problem of pine memorization will end.

Challenges related to technique and confidentiality

Although this change seems safe because it seems safe, it also understands certain challenges. Data confidentiality, user consent and a solid technical system will be necessary so that biometric data remain safe and no abusive use of any kind.
According to reports, the number of UPI transactions in June 2025 reached 18.39 billion and the total value of the transaction is Rs 24.03 Lakh crores. In such a situation, the system upgrade for this large user base will not be an easy task. But once the biometric system is successfully implemented, it will not only make the transaction safe, but will also simplify the process.

What will change for the user?

For the moment, the user does not need to worry about any kind. You can continue to pay the same way you pay with UPI. This change is always under study and when implemented by NPCI, clear directives will be given concerning its use and configuration.
Users are advised to monitor updates to their banking applications and UPI platforms, so that when this feature is available, you can enjoy it in time. This NPCI stage is very important to make the transaction upi more secure, spontaneous and without fraud. Biometric authentication instead of pine will not only strengthen digital security, but will also facilitate the path for users who are technically less powerful. This change in the coming time will further strengthen the Digital Payment Revolution of India.
