The weapons of horror films are quietly creating history at the box office.

In addition to winning the hearts of critics and audiences, Barberia director Zach Cleger’s latest horror film, The Weapon, also made an impressive debut at the box office. With a 94% fantastic critical rating at Rotton Tomatos and a solid IMDB user rating of 7.9/10, it is considered one of the best horror films of the year.

The first organizational horror film to achieve big results at the box office

The Weapon became the first original horror film to achieve a huge success at the box office. The impressive edge of the box office collecting chart is even more impressive given the fact that it is an original horror film. Before it appeared on the charts, only three other horror films could surpass the $50 million mark, two of which – Danny Boyle’s 28-year letter and the ultimate destination pedigree of supernatural sequels already had existing franchisees.

This became the first original horror film after Soppan to earn over $50 million at the domestic box office. Ciners was a strong hit released on April 18th, reaching $278.6 million in North America and $365.9 million worldwide. The next highest original horror film on the charts was the eyes of the mind, which won $30 million domestically. That’s over $20 million than Vapan’s current revenue.

2025’s “Weapons” was the first film directed by Zack Clegger to step into a horror film with his 2022 hit “Barbaryon.” Previously, she directed comedy films such as “Miss March” and “The Whitest Kids Youan.” With a global revenue of $70 million over three days, the film has already surpassed $45.3 million in “Barbaryon.”
