Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said that the next film Nishani was different from his film Gangs of Wasseypur. He said that the 2012 Gangs of Wasseypur film was inspired by the stories he had heard, while his new film is directly linked to his own life and education in Kanpur and Lucknow. Earlier this week, the Nisarchi trailer has been released and since then it has been compared to Gangs of Wasseypur on social networks, which was based on the gang rivalry that had been in generations and became very popular.

Skikchi is based on the interdependent life of the Bablu and Double twin brothers. He features Aishwarya Thackeray in a double role, with Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Kumud Mishra and Mohammad Zeeshan. Thackeray began his career with this film. However, Kashyap rejected any similarity between the two films.
