Kajol Devgan’s Manish Malhotra gilded sari brings handwoven tissue and brocade together

With a friendship that extends over three decades, Kajol Devgan and Manish Malhotra’s clothing collaborations are more like an extension of a shared heritage than a designer partnership. The last creative synergy of the duo culminated in a classic sari look which can be presented as a modern heritage. “We wanted Kajol’s look to feel royal but modern, leaving this beautiful Manish Golden Malhotra Sari occupying the stage. The result is an aesthetic that honors heritage weaves and embraces the sharpness of contemporary style.

The Sari de Devgan is a half and a half masterpiece in the textiles of the melody. Creating an almost liquid shimmering, the sari is woven in golden fabrics which serves as a pallu and a rich brocade like the rest of the canvas. Although they are distinct, the two fabrics create a harmonious visual and texture language. The elevation of the inherent opulence of the sari is a “vintage border of Zardozi complex in hand, which is delicate but powerful, just like the presence of Kajol”, according to Malhotra. The border is in addition bordered with a Gota Patti and Kiran detail.
