What is the right timing of drinking water before or after eating, know the right way from the doctor – Uttarakhand News

Rishikesh: The right time to eat food and water is very important for our health. According to Ayurveda, it is not only important what we eat, but also when and how we eat it. Often people drink water immediately after eating food or drink more water before eating, which can adversely affect the digestive system. The cause of problems like stomach problems, indigestion, gas and heaviness is often related to this wrong timing. Therefore, it is advisable to pay special attention to time between drinking and eating water in Ayurveda.
Do not forget this mistake
During a conversation with Local 18, Dr. Rajkumar (Ayush) of the Rejuvenation Herbal Clinic located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand said that it has been told in Ayurveda that drinking water immediately after eating food can weaken digestive power. When we eat food, the digestive juice is active in the stomach, which helps in digesting food. If the water is drunk immediately after eating, it dilutes the digestive juice and the digestion of food is not done properly. As a result, problems like heaviness, gas and sometimes indigestion can arise in the stomach.
Drinking more water before eating
At the same time, drinking excessive water before eating can also cause harm. Drinking a lot of water before eating makes you feel full of stomach and reduces appetite. The effect of this is that we are unable to take enough food and there may be a lack of nutrition.
Balance between food and water is necessary
According to Ayurveda, it is necessary to have a balance between food and water for the right digestion and nutrition. Drinking water after half an hour of eating is best suitable. This time is sufficient to digest food and water is easily absorbed into the body. If you want to drink cold water, it should also be taken after 20-30 minutes of eating. This not only improves digestion, but also keeps the body hydrated. Also, if you need more water during the day, you can drink it before eating and 1-2 hours after eating.
It is better to drink water in small sips
It has also been said in Ayurveda that it is better to drink water in small sips instead of drinking a lot of water at a time. This makes it easier for the body to absorb water and does not disrupt the digestive process. In addition, the habit of drinking hot water is also considered beneficial for digestion, as it relaxes the abdominal muscles and helps to digest food quickly.
