Till now GBS cases were being received in Pune and its surrounding areas of Maharashtra, but now patients have been found in the state capital Mumbai. With this, the number of GBS cases in Maharashtra has increased to 180. Of these, GBS has been confirmed in 146 patients. Due to this disease, a total of 6 people have also died. According to the state health department, 58 GBS patients are admitted in ICU and 22 are on ventilator.
Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Senior Neurologist at Metro Hospital, Noida told News18 That is a rare disorder attached to the Guilan-Baire syndrome (GBS) nervous system, which arises due to disturbances in the immune system. In many cases, GBS conditions can come even after viral or bacterial infection. If you talk about the vaccine of Guilan-Baire syndrome, then there is no vaccine available for the prevention of this disease, but it can be treated correctly. Some medicines and therapy can cause recovery from GBS. If there is no treatment at the right time, then death can also occur.
According to Dr. Neeraj Kumar, 2 methods are adopted to treat Guilan-Baire syndrome. People are injected in the treatment of this disease. The second method is plasma pharysis. Injections are applied for 5 consecutive days to patients suffering from GBS according to body weight. In a day, about 4 to 6 injections are made according to the weight of the patient. Plasma is similar to pharysis dialysis. This treatment lasts for about 10 days. The disease initially increases by 2 to 3 weeks and takes about 3-4 weeks to recover after treatment.
According to the expert, if patients suffering from Guilan-Baire syndrome get the right treatment, then about 60 to 70 % patients are fully recovered. Better treatment within a month relieves this problem. Although the condition of some patients deteriorates, then they have to be kept on the ventilator. GBS also dies in sevier cases. People should not be negligent about this disease and if you see any kind of symptoms, then the doctor should meet and get themselves examined.
