PM Modi and Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the Indian Consulate in France, know why it is important

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated India’s new consulate in Masay city on Wednesday. Prime Minister Modi is currently on a tour of France on the invitation of President Macron. The two leaders jointly inaugurated the new consulate in the city of Masse by pressing the button. The crowd present on this occasion expressed happiness with full enthusiasm. Many of these people brought the national flag of both India and France.
India’s new consulate is considered very important in Mass. India announced the opening of this embassy during Modi’s visit to France in 2023. The embassy will provide services to the Indian migrant community settled in southern France. With this, people will not have to go to Paris to get a consular work done.
Prior to the inauguration of the consulate, Modi and Macron visited the historic Majargwegue cemetery and paid tribute to Indian soldiers who made supreme sacrifices in the First World War. Later, the two leaders also interacted with some people present in the crowd.
A large number of Indian soldiers were cremated in this cemetery. The Commonwealth War Grave Commission (CWGC) maintains this cemetery. Modi, who visited France on a three-day visit to France, co-headed the ‘AI Action’ summit with President Macron on Tuesday and addressed the veterans of the business world. Modi reached Paris on 10 February.
The First World War took place during 1914–18, while the second world war took place during 1939–45. According to the CWGC website, “This cemetery has the graves of 267 soldiers who sacrificed 1,487 and 1939-45 in the 1914-18 war in the 1914-18 war. 205 Indian soldiers were also cremated here, in whose memory a memorial has been built behind the cemetery. In July 1925, Field Marshal Sir William Birdwood unveiled the Indian Memorial.
