Tuhin Kant Pandey will be the new chairman of SEBI, Madhabi Puri will take the place, how much will be salary?

The government has appointed Finance and Revenue Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He will replace Madhabi Puri Buch, whose term is ending this month.

Madhabi Puri Buch’s term ends on 1 March

Madhabi Puri Buch took over on 2 March 2022 as a sebi chairperson. She became the first woman president of SEBI and was also the first person to come from the private sector. There were many important changes in the Indian stock market and capital market during his tenure.

SEBI chief’s salary and tenure

The appointment committee of the cabinet has approved the appointment of Tuhin Kant Pandey, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre. After taking over, he will continue in this post for three years or further orders.

The SEBI chairman gets SEBI Chairman Salary equal to the secretary of the government. Apart from this, he can also choose fixed salary of ₹ 5,62,500 per month, which will not include government vehicles and home facilities.

Who is Tuhin Kant Pandey?

Tuhin Kant Pandey was working as Finance and Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He has played a big role in the government disinvestment process and has taken several major decisions regarding the stake sales of government companies.

SEBI i.e. Securities and Exchange Board of India is the stock market and capital market regulator. Its task is to protect the interests of investors, prevent market fraud and maintain transparency.
