Is it time for the return of extra-wide belts?

During the 2000s, no outfit was complete without the addition of large wide belts. You know the ostentatious genre I’m talking about: an extra-large style that instantly known its presence. The cheeky accessory has never been really there to hold anything – it was designed for fashion that does not work, and you got bonus points if it was fixed just below the bust, not even remotely near your waist. All the IT girls of the decade shaken the look, from Beyoncé and Rihanna to Paris Hilton.(It’s hot.)
If you have long passed the Y2K style, we are sorry to point out this: the large belt slowly brought back to fashion. Although it seems a little different in the present. On the slopes of autumn 2025, the designers proposed a new harvest of large declaration belts which seemed decidedly more refined. (To start, they are no longer twinned with Hervé bandage dresses Lenge Skiintight.) In Balmain, Olivier Rousteing has twinned his faux fuels in stuffed fur with thick burgundy relief belts. In Chloé, the designer Chemena Kamali has accessorized romantic blouses and gluded belts with large lowered belts – a new version of the bohemian vinaigrette.
Even celebrities are slowly starting to participate in the trend. Snow White Rachel Zegler, for its part, recently came out in glitter pants and high -waisted pants, the latter was punctuated by a large belt with a circular loop. Rose Byrne also styled her white lace dress with a thick brown leather belt in Paris. Compared to the Y2K style of wide belts, the two stars have adopted an approach that feels much more moderate; The belt added a dimension to the look, without completely controlling it. (If it was in 2008? The whole outfit would revolve around the belt.)

So, does this upright movement mean that you have to walk in your closet and dust your most enormous belt of the 2000s? Not necessarily. Like any cyclic tendency that returns in the fashion scrum, it is less a question of reproducing the exact appearance. Instead, the new presence of the trend is there to remind us that sometimes a heavy declaration belt is just the thing your outfit needs to feel complete. Do not remove the power, but do not necessarily associate it with a bandage dress either. Do like the tracks, and head it with more refined pieces instead.
