Across four cities and three days, this couple planned a wedding along Portugal’s rugged coastline

The wedding day was fixed against the sweet pink facade of the Palácio do Correío-Mor in Loures. The morning began with the traditional Tamil Oonjal ceremony, who involved the couple blessed by women’s married women, in the French gardens of the estate. “We asked Raj’s family to also sing their traditional wedding bhajans,” explains Vijay.

The bride chose a Banarasi sari from Green Emerald striking by Anita Dongre for this event. “I have always been attracted to Emerald Green, because Emerald is my birth stone. And the monotonous allows the richness of the shade to stand out, ”she adds. Vijay rushed to the Nuptial Surzaina Puri stylist, with whom she worked for almost a year to produce six personalized looks for her wedding events. A classic Guttapusalu necklace and temple jewelry accentuated its whole. “Suzaina and I worked with a Delhi -based jeweler to personalize the necklace to have an ancient gold finish, so it would better complete my sari.” A stack of large gold cuffs, an ancient neck, jhumkas and a Nath completed the look.

Sitting at Mandap Mandap, the bride created a central memory when the clouds were released after the storm and the sun shone on them all. “Our guests have opened their garden umbrellas and their fans in unison, looking towards us with wide smiles,” she says. “Our Pheras and Saptapadi, or seven stages, were a mixture of Gujarati and Tamilian ceremonies,” recalls Vijay. “We have made four pheras (common in Gujarati ceremonies) and Saptapadi, which is common to both.”

The couple also chose to have two mangal sutras to honor the cultures of the other: one sporting classic black pearls on a gold chain while the other was a Thaal or Tamilian gold pendant. For marriage, Vijay has managed another personalized creation, this time by Anamika Khanna. The fanciful and ivory lehenga included clusters of pearls, delicate zardozi gold embroidery in pink gold and stone, associated with an embroidered organza dupatta. A 10 -foot embroidered veil also added a theatrical element.

After a two -day whirlwind, the last judgment was Sirtra’s romantic city for wedding reception. “Raj and I did the Rumba to ‘Sway’ by Dean Martin, which is one of our favorite songs,” recalls Vijay. The sweetest surprise, however, was an impromptu speech of his beautiful. “I decided to get out of the sleeve, helped by a little wine and I started my wishes where it all started,” he shares, referring to his speech: “It is not every day that a guy meets a girl who has come out of her league, and eight years later, he will read vows of wedding in Portugal.”
