Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said on Thursday that he hoped that India would send his rival Sheikh Hasina back to his country to prosecute him. Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry said that if needed, India will be sent a reminder of the request made for extradition of Hasina last year.
The nearly 16 -year -long rule of Hasina’s Awami League Party fell after the students’ movement on August 5, 2024, due to which she left Bangladesh and moved to India.
BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed in a press conference here that the United Nations report said that mass murders, human rights violations and democracy and institutions were destroyed on the orders of Hasina, and the report proved it from the report. It has happened that “Hasina is a fascist who harassed the people of this country.”
Alamgir said, “We today call the Government of India to send Hasina and her comrades to Bangladesh immediately and hand over to the government to face the trial.”
