Antibiotics use in Infancy Linked to Early Puberty in Girls: Often, antibiotics are definitely given in any disease of children. Researchers analyzed data related to antibiotic intake of 3,22,731 children aged between 0 and 12 months.
These children were observed until the age of girls was 9 years and the age of boys was 10 years. The study found that girls who were given antibiotics before the age of 3 months were 33 percent more likely to start puberty. This risk increased by 40 percent in girls who were given antibiotics within 14 days of birth. Overall, the sooner the antibiotics were given, the more the risk of puberty was seen. However, there was no relationship between antibiotic intake and early puberty in boys.

A premature puberty is a situation in which secondary sexual development in children starts before normal time. In girls, it is considered before the age of 8 and before 9 years in boys. This situation is seen in most girls and there is no clear reason behind it, whereas in boys it is less common.
