Are AI relationship apps changing how we love?

In the 2013 movie HerThe character of Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with his ia exploitation system – such a tender and convincing relationship was like the response of science fiction to Heartbreak.

A decade later, this fantasy is no longer a fiction. In social media and application stores, AI relational applications become a digital support system discreetly: designed to validate, flirt, soothe and simulate intimacy on demand. In South Asia, where gender segregation remains widespread and that dating outside of marriage is often discouraged, these applications offer a rare emotional outlet. It turns out that emotion – and sometimes even physical – is safe, is only an algorithm.

Scroll through social media and you will find subcultures devoted to digital novels – Writing women with robots, men asking how to get around filters to act without limits. For users with little exposure to real, romantic or other relationships, these applications can act as an emotional training wheels. But when the connection becomes too practical, too organized, what happens to our capacity for friction, rejection or ambiguity-the true intimacy of the raw material is made?

Romantic algorithm

Relational applications AI as folder, Eva AI and Anima are partly from the chatbot, partly digital partner. They promise to be all modern relationships are often not: available, attentive and little maintenance. Combined with slogans like “always there”, “zero judgment” and “emotionally intelligent”, they offer a perfect love simulation in your pocket.
