Arshad nadeem rejects neeraj chopra’s invitation: Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem said on Wednesday that Neeraj Chopra’s invitation to participate in the NC Classic Bhalafenc tournament in Bengaluru on May 24 has rejected him as he will be busy preparing for the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships during this period.

Nadeem said, “The NC classic competition is on 24 May while I will leave for Korea for the Asian Athletics Championship on 22 May.” He said that he is working hard for the Asian Championship to be held in Korea from 27 to 31 May.

Chopra told the media on Monday in a virtual conversation, “I have sent Arshad to Arshad and said that he would answer by talking to his coach. He has not confirmed the participation yet.”

Elite women and male spear throw players from all over the world will participate in India for the first time in this competition organized as Neeraj Chopra. In a virtual press meeting organized by JSW, Neeraj said that Anderson Peters (Paris Olympic bronze medalist and two -time world champion) and Kenya’s Julius Yigo (Rio Olympic silver medalist and former world champion) are coming to India.

Neeraj said, “Many players like Anderson Peters (Grenada), Julius Yigo (Kenya), Curtis Thompson (America), Thomas Roller will participate in this competition. Some names have just been told, the rest will tell later. The players of India will also participate, I have talked to Rohit Yadav.”

This competition will also be an important opportunity to qualify for the World Athletics Championship (13 to 21 September, Tokyo). However, Neeraj himself has already qualified. Neeraj said, “We are trying to give a chance to at least 4-5 Indian players. This is a gold-level competition, in which well performing will give them ranking points to qualify for the World Championship.”

Earlier this competition was to be held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, Haryana, but now it will be held at Sri Kantirawa Stadium in Bengaluru. Neeraj said, “Light facility in Haryana stadium was not enough for broadcasting. The lighting there was 600 Lux, while we needed more than that and the time was short.” He further said, “I spoke to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he gave positive support.”
