Asian Games: 2026 Achie-Nagoya will be part of Asian Games, OCA confirmed

The Asian Olympic Council (OCA) has confirmed that Cricket will remain part of the 2026 Achi-Nagoya Asian Games to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4. The decision to retain cricket was taken during the meeting between the Asian Olympic Council (OCA) and the Organizing Committee (AINAGOC) earlier this week.

The OCA said, “The latest decision was taken at the 41st meeting of the Board of Directors of AINAGOC in Nagoya City Hall on Monday, April 28, in which both cricket and mixed martial arts were formally approved.”

Cricket matches will be played in the T20 format in Achie province. However, the sites are yet to be decided. The OCA said, “The venue of cricket will be in the site of Achie province but the right place has not been decided yet.

People will not only be interested in the popularity of cricket in South Asia, but also because the T20 format will be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. “

Cricket will be one of the 41 events involved in the Asian Games. 15,000 athletes and officers representing 45 National Olympic committees of OCA are expected to participate in these games.

Cricket will join the Asian Games fourth time. Earlier, it was included in Guangzhu (2010), Incheon (2014) and Hangzhou (2023). Indian men and women teams are the defending winners. Cricket 2028 will also join the Los Angeles Olympics.
