Bangladesh Actress Nusrat Faria Arrested Bangladesh’s well-known actress Nusrat Faria. Nusrat has been sent to jail in an attempt to kill a person named Inamul Haq. Actress Nusrat Faria played the role of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s film Mujib Ur Rehman. The actress was detained by the police at Dhaka Airport on Sunday when she was going to Thailand. He was later arrested in this case related to the July 2024 agitation.

Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Nasreen Ankatar ordered him to be sent to jail on Monday. Lieutenant General (Retired) Jahangir Alam Chaudhary, Bangladesh’s Home Affairs Advisor, confirmed that a trial was going on against the actress and investigation is going on in the case. He assured that the government is committed to ensuring justice.

Jahangir Chaudhary said that such measures will be taken that only those who violate the law should be punished. It will also be ensured that no innocent should be punished under any circumstances.
What is the charge against actress Nusrat Faria?
Please tell that in July 2024, Inamul Haq attended the July movement in Vatara police station area. That day he was shot in the leg and was later admitted to a hospital. After recovering, he filed a case on 3 May 2025. 283 people have been accused in this case, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 17 artists. Actress Faria has been accused as the financial supporter of the Awami League.

Nusrat Faria played the role of Sheikh Hasina in the 2023 biopic ‘Mujib: The Making of a Nation’ by 2023. The film was directed by Indian film director Shyam Benegal. Bangladesh’s Culture Affairs Advisor Sarwar Farooqui has termed Faria’s arrest as a ‘shameful incident’ for the government.

Farooqui hoped in a social media post on Monday that Faria would get justice. He wrote that the government’s job is to punish the real criminals of the July movement. Our clear policy has been that no one will be arrested in vague cases until his involvement in preliminary inquiry is proved.
