The filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri revealed that the producers of his film “The Bengal Files” are considering legal action. He allegedly alleged that the Western Bengal Government and the police theater was pressure on the owners so as not to present the film in the state. The film is based on community riots in Kolkata in August 1946, known as the day of direct action. The film has already been swallowed up in controversies, because its launch of trailer in the capital of the State was disrupted and at least two Bengalis actors withdrew their project names.

Due to the film “The Bengal Files” not obtaining any screen in Western Bengal, its producer asked President Draupadi Murmu to intervene in the case. Meanwhile, Gopal Chandra Mukherjee’s grandson filed a petition in front of the High Court of Calcutta to stop the film’s release, saying that the main character in the film was incorrectly represented.
