Formerly an emblematic region located in the heart of the Indo-Gangetic plain, Awadh was the northeast part of the Uttar Pradesh. The historic region, in particular Lucknow, can be thanked for having offered a wealth of craft crafts such as Chikankari and Kaamdani.
