Carcinogenic can cause dangerous cancer.

Idli is a South Indian dish, which is a lot of people’s favorite food. Especially, in South India, it is found in every hotel, restaurant etc. Even in the house, people eat a lot by making idli sambar. However, these days, a case of using polythene sheets has come to light to make idli in some hotels and road -side Idli shops in Karnataka. The Karnataka Food Safety Department after examining about 52 hotels found that shopkeepers were illegally using polythene sheets while making idli here. At present, plastic use has been banned in all the hotels and road side Idli shops.

What can cause harm from polyethylene sheets?
Actually, after making the idli batter, a cloth is first placed on the idli mold. Idli solution is poured over it and then cooked to steam it. But in this ongoing Gorakh business in Karnataka, dangerous plastic sheets were being used instead of clothes. Idli was covered with plastic sheets to steam. This plastic sheet contains a very dangerous chemical, which is carcinogenic. This harmful chemical -rich polyethylene sheet can cause cancer.

Actually, traditional techniques have been used to make idli, in which cloth is used. But these hotels and road side shops were not doing this. They were using plastic sheets instead of clothes regardless of people’s lives.

What is carcinogenic?
Carcinogenic directly means cancer -causing substance. It is very dangerous. If this thing is used in food and someone regularly consumes it, then the chances of getting cancer can increase to a great extent. These substances are found in many things such as in the sun’s ultraviolet rays, cigarette smoke, chemicals like asbestos, metal, gas etc. Constant exposure to carcinogenic substances increases the risk of cancer to a great extent. They change the genetic structure of cells to make cancerous, which keeps these cells constantly growing and can prove to be fatal at a time.
