Census and Equity

India is preparing to do something big: Census. That’s when the government calculates everyone in the country. This helps us understand how many people live in each field, how resources should be shared and how many seats each state should get in the council. The next big number will now officially begin, with the reference date set to March 1, 2027. This means that only those born before this date will be counted.

But the census is not only about calculating people, but also has a great impact on politics.

Why is this important?

After the census, it is called delimitation occur. At that time, the number of parliamentary seats in each state may change based on the number of people there. question?

  • Northern Statesuch as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, there are many more people.
  • Southern statesLike Kerala and Tamil Nadu, people are smaller because they do better in controlling population growth.

So if we provide seats based on population only More power can be gained in the northand The South may lose some – Even if the South follows the rules that control population. This is unfair to many people.

What about women booking?

There is a new rule that says 1 seat Will be retained in Parliament female. Some worry that this will give men fewer opportunities, or that party can’t find a “victory” female candidate. But here is the fact:

  • Women have been politically led in local villages and cities.
  • Political parties have found men with wealth or influence – they can find women too!
  • Many women, even from political families, must fight family rules to join politics.

So what needs to be done?

India needs Large discussion Now. Some ideas include:

  • Keep the number of seats the same until the populations of all states are similar.
  • More seats are added overall, so no state is penalized.
  • Add seats to provide space for women bookings.

These are the tricky questions. But now is the time to have a smart, honest conversation to ensure the future of India is time Fair to everyone – North and South, men and women.
