China’s challenge: Joint military exercises of Philippines, Japan and America

The Philippines, Japan and the United States organized a joint maritime military exercise within the special economic field of the Philippines. According to media reports, the exercise was held on Friday amid increasing dangers in the region and the increasing aggression of China. The multilateral maritime co -operative activity (MCA) is organized in such a way that it is in line with international law and respects the security, shipping rights, freedom of all countries.

The US Navy said in an official statement that the US, along with its colleagues and partners, supports the rights of the sea and other internationally valid use of the sea related to the freedom of flying and flight. According to the report of the Philippines government news agency PNA, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also stated that the multilateral MCA highlights important reforms in coordination, strategy and shared marine awareness.

The Embassy of Tokyo in the Philippines said in a statement that Japan will continue to strengthen strategic relations and increase cooperation in the safety of free and open use of the sea. In February, the Philippines Coast Guard condemned the ‘dangerous’ exercise of a Chinese Navy helicopter. The helicopter was flying within three meters (10 feet) of the surveillance flight carrying a group of journalists on a disputed Scarboro Shole in the South China Sea.

In December last year, during the Japan-America-Filippines maritime talks held in Tokyo, leaders confirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation between the three countries as maritime nations associated with the Pacific Ocean. Recently, Foreign Ministers of Group of 7 (G7) countries criticized China’s dangerous activities in the South China Sea during their meeting in Cubeb, Canada. He condemned China’s ‘militarization and forced’.
