CSK vs SRH: Sheikh Rashid and Ayush Mhatre formed history, second such unique feat in IPL

Sheikh Rashid and Ayush Mhatre started the innings for Chennai Super Kings in the 43rd match of IPL 2025. The pair made it to a unique record list as soon as the pair stepped on the field. The age of these two players is jointly 38 years and 131 days and the pair has become the second youngest pair of IPL. There is a pair of Jaiswal and Vaibhav on the top of this list. In Vaibhav’s IPL debut match, he and Jaiswal had a combined age of 37 years and 135 days and the pair is the youngest couple to start the innings in the IPL.

Apart from this, it is the fourth pair of IPL history, in which both players are below 21 years of age. Let me tell you, the pair of Sanju and Rishabh Pant were the first pair of IPL history, where both openers were under 21 years of age. The second position in this list is Shubman Gill and Tom Banton. At the third place, Abhishek Sharma and Priyam Garg are pair.

With Harshal Patel’s stormy bowling, Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday killed Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League for 154 runs. Harshal (four wickets for 28 runs), captain Pat Cummins (two wickets for 21 runs) and Jaydev Unadkat (two wickets for 21), Super Kings lost wickets at regular intervals and the team returned to the pavilion in 19.5 overs.

For Super Kings, Dewald Brevis scored the highest 42 runs in 25 balls with four sixes and one four. Young opener Ayush Mhatre scored 30 runs with six fours in 19 balls. Apart from these two, Deepak Hooda (22) and Ravindra Jadeja (21) were able to cross 20 runs. Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl first, after which the Super Kings had a bad start and the team lost the wicket of Sheikh Rashid (00) on the first ball of the match, who caught Abhishek Sharma in the slip off the ball of Mohammed Shami (one for 28 runs).

Young opener Ayush Mhatre once again appeared in rhythm. After opening the account with fours on Shami, he also hit two fours on Cummins. Ayush also welcomed Unadkat with two consecutive fours. Harshal gave the second blow to Super Kings by catching Sam Curren (09) at the hands of Aniket Verma. Ayush also played Cummins ball directly in the hands of Ishan Kishan in the next over, which scored 50 runs for three wickets in Super Kings Power Play.

Ravindra Jadeja was lucky off Zeeshan Ansari when Harshal dripped his catch on long off. Jadeja hit a six on Zeeshan but in the next over, Kamindu was bowled by Mendis. He scored 21 runs. Shivam Dubey and Brevis then carried the innings forward. Dubey hit two consecutive fours on Shami, while Bravis, who was debuting in the IPL for Super Kings, completed a century of the team’s runs with three sixes on Mendis in the 12th over.

Brevis also hit Harshal in the next over but caught Mendis on long off on the next ball. He faced 25 balls and hit four sixes and a four. Dubey was also caught by Abhishek off Unadkat after scoring 12 runs. Super Kings scored 127 runs for six wickets in 15 overs.

Harshal gave a big blow to the Superkings by catching captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (06) in the 17th over by Abhishek, while Cummins caught the Impact Player Anshul Kamboj (02) in the next over by wicketkeeper Henrik Klassen. Harshal sent Nur Ahmed (02) to the pavilion but Hooda after hitting him on Unadkat with fours and took the team’s score to 150 runs but after that he caught Abhishek.
