Curfew in Karachi, Pakistan till 31 March, know why the police imposed Section 144?
Pakistan is again in the news for the same reason, for which it always lives. Terrorism, violence and unrest. It is reported that in view of the law and order situation in the city, the Karachi police have recommended the commissioner of Karachi to impose Section 144 in the south district of the city.
According to the report of Pakistan’s newspaper Dawn, this recommendation was made by Deputy Inspector General of Police of Karachi South region Syed Asad Raza on Sunday.
What is the reason for imposing curfew?
Pakistan has arrested Baloch Human Rights Activists Dr. Mahirang Baloch and Begberg Baloch. Apart from him, Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has called a protest at the Karachi Press Club on March 24 against many more “illegal custody”. The Karachi police has been shocked about this.
The notification further states that given the situation of the current law and order, “It is necessary that necessary measures should be taken to protect the integrity of the people, public and the program.”
“Therefore it is requested that from 24 to 31 March, 2025, under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, any type of protests, demonstrations, picket rallies and more than five persons can be banned within the border of the south region.”
