Batting first, LSG made a brilliant start with Mitchell Marsh (72 runs off 36 balls) and Nicholas Puran (75 off 30 balls). Marsh attacked his Australian partner Mitchell Starc and piled him for 20 runs off just four balls. Both added 87 runs off just 42 balls, causing LSG to a strong position in half a time.
However, DC bowlers returned to death overs and stopped LSG for 209 runs for 8 wickets. Stark took his revenge by dismissing Puran, while Mukesh Kumar, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav ensured that the LSG could not take full advantage of its bang. Only 49 runs were scored in the last seven overs and LSG lost six wickets.
