Earthquake, ODI and T20 coach Rob Walter suddenly resigned in South African cricket

Rob Walter, the head coach of South Africa’s white ball, will be removed from his post later this month due to personal reasons. Walter resigned for personal reasons, which has been accepted by Cricket South Africa. Since March 2023, Walter, who held this post, has played an important role in South Africa’s recent successes on the global stage.
Under his guidance, South Africa made history by reaching its first ICC Men T20 World Cup final in 2024 where he was runner -up to India in Barbados. During his tenure, a 50 -over team also reached the semi -finals of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
During his tenure, Walter guided the national team in 36 ODIs and 31 T20 Internationals, including a win in the series against Netherlands, Australia, Ireland and Pakistan. His last tour was the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, in which South Africa reached another semi -finals.
In a release from Cricket South Africa, Walter said, “It is a matter of honor to give coaching to South Africa and I am very proud of what we have achieved.” He said, “Players, support staff and South African cricket communities have been fantastic in this entire journey. It is time for me to go away, I have no doubt that the team will continue to move forward and will touch even more heights.” The CSA said that the name for their post will be announced at the appropriate time.
