Elections around the world teach us

In many countries, people vote for their leaders, and recent elections have shown that voters are not satisfied with the government.

exist GermanyNo party wins enough votes to rule alone, so different parties must now work together. A far-right party, AFD, has won more votes than before, but will not be part of the government. Why? Because many Germans think their economy is in poor condition. Prices are high, and even if most people have jobs, they won’t feel richer.

exist U.K.then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak convened early elections because the economy improved. But voters still think the price is too high and the loan is expensive. Many people think the economy is in bad shape, so Sunak may lose.

exist USApeople have evacuated Democrats from power in some places because their financial situation is worse than what they did during Donald Trump’s presidency, despite slowing inflation (price rises).

Even in Chinawhere democracies do not hold elections like democratic countries, the government is concerned. Fewer people think they are living better than they were five years ago, so China is trying to boost its economy.

What about India?

Indian leaders should also listen to people’s voices. Currently, many politicians give away free stuff (such as cash and discounts) to win votes. But this cannot last forever. For example, in Maharashtra, cheap bus tickets for women and the elderly cost Rs 3 crore per day!

Leaders should focus on making the economy grow rapidly and creating more jobs, rather than short-term gifts. This is the only way people can truly be safe for their future.
