Union Road Transport and Expressway Minister Nitingadokari said that the prices of electric vehicles (EVs) in India will be comparable to gasoline vehicles over the next six months. Speaking at the 32nd Convergence India and the 10th Smart City India Expo, Gadkari also said construction of the 212 km long Delhi-Deradun Access Control highway will be completed in the next three months. “The cost of an electric vehicle within six months equals the cost of a gasoline vehicle within six months,” he said.

At the public address in Nagpur, he previously said that by 2025 the price of electric cars in India equals gasoline vehicles, inspired by progress in battery technology and increased domestic production. He also emphasized that EVs have far lower operating costs than gasoline and diesel vehicles.
