Exclusive: Anuv Jain and Hridi Narang’s love story started from their ‘worst best first date’

It all started with an Instagram request in 2017 – surprise, which was not ignored. “I never accept requests from foreigners,” explains Hridi Narang, founder of Guru Om Cougles and Décor, who made an exception for the singer-songwriter Anuv Jain. How millennium, for a singer whose music traces the modern complexities of meetings. This digital connection, triggered by Jain’s song ‘Baarish’, It was a slow burn, taking five years to transform. Their platonic friendship has evolved in love and resulted in a three -day wedding celebration in February.

Their first meeting was brief – a five -minute meeting in Jain’s Delhi Show in February 2021 – but it was a routine phone call in 2022 that changed everything. “When she shared, by the way, that she was single, I could not have ignored it as I always found her beautiful,” recalls Jain. “I stopped everything I was doing because it was my window to get my blow.” He surprised Narang with a spontaneous trip to Delhi for the Valentine’s Day dinner, even bringing him a box of his favorite Kolkata Bookie Boat pastry. Despite a series of comic misadventures – restaurants at prices and a poor pizza order – the date has become a pivotal moment. “Even if it was like a very bad date, because we just couldn’t find a place to sit down, we have always had a good time,” explains Jain.

Immediate connection solidified their feelings. “We talked about everything. And I was like, yes, he’s the guy I want to be, ”shares Narang. The unforeseen date of Valentine’s Day, which extended to the 15th, has become an important marker in their relationship. “We were a little poetic with this because this date was February 14. We did not plan for Valentine’s Day, but he was just that day,” added Jain. “So, after three years, we kept it the same way.

The celebrations were intimate and personalized. “We wanted a very united and comfortable wedding full of family and friends”, shares Narang. Work with Karma events because they have designed each function with meticulous attention to detail.

The protruding facts of the Mehendi function included carnival games such as the ball, the draw and the pong of beer to add nostalgic touches of their childhood and the beginning of the twenties. Narang has chosen a dynamic Mayyur Girotra of Gharara Ardent Gharara and associated it with a traditional parandi, completing the festive theme of Punjab-Meet-Carval. “We wanted each look to be completely different, but authentic for us,” said Narang. Jain opted for a short contemporary jacket by the same designer, superimposed on an elegant black Kurta and Pathani Salwar.
