Delhi flood and water born disease: Flood water in the vicinity of Yamuna in Delhi is now decreasing. The Yamuna water level has reached below the danger mark, although the flood waters in the surrounding areas have started. Many types of diseases have started spreading here. In the relief camps organized in Yamuna Khadar, people are seeing fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, eye and skin infection and joint pain in joints. Due to which the Health Department has deployed ambulances and doctors teams in these areas.

A team of doctors posted in relief camps around Mayur Vihar said that 60 to 70 patients are coming to show daily. Some patients are also being referred when they are in critical condition. Medicines are also being given to these patients in relief camps, but still some medicines have to be purchased from outside.

Diseases caused by floods, Dr. Rohan Krishnan, Chief of the Federation of All India Medical Association, said that flood waters contain many types of bacteria, viruses and parasites, which can cause these diseases. Especially drinking contaminated water increases the risk of diseases like cholera or typhoid, diarrhea, jaundice etc. Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, stomach pain can be symptoms of these.

There is also a possibility of spreading dengue, malaria and chikungunya due to mosquito flourishing in stalled water. Also, the risk of skin disease, fungal infection also increases.

This is how to protect
Dr. Krishnan said that prevention from all these diseases is possible, provided people should take care of some things.
Drink safe water. Try to drink only boiled water.
Take special care of cleanliness around you. Before eating food and after defecation, wash hands with soap and clean water.
Stay away from flood water. Do not let children play in water. Wear boot or shoes whenever you go into water.
Use mosquito nets to prevent mosquitoes. If there are mosquitoes around the house, then mosquitoes can use a woring cream or spray.
Avoid eating raw or half cooked food, just cook and eat hot food. Do not eat stale or open food.
If you get hurt or if there is a wound, then clean it immediately and see the doctor.
