The government said in a statement that the Union Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Andhra Pradesh’s Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh, the prestigious monks and senior officials of India were with sacred remains, who were taken by special aircraft. Riziju is leading the government delegation in Vietnam.

Riziju shared some pictures in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, saying, ‘Arrived at Vietnam, leading the high -level Indian delegation with the sacred remains of Lord Buddha. A grand formal welcome was given by the Government of Vietnam and Vietnam Buddhist associations. Holy Remains will be in Vietnam from May 2 to 21 2025 for the United Nations Visak Day celebrations.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs said in a statement on Friday that the yatra is taking place under the United Nations (UN) Vesak Day celebrations being organized by Vietnam from May 6 to 8. Officials said on Thursday that the sacred remains of Lord Buddha were rushed to Vietnam by a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force from Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, which gives it the status of ‘State Guest’.

Holy relics were formally brought to Delhi on Wednesday and placed in the ‘Special Protected Area’ of the National Museum for prayer for a few hours. On Thursday evening, holy remains were taken from the National Museum to a further visit to Vietnam in a ‘special bulletproof vehicle’ with the entire ‘state honor’. The aircraft reached Ho Chi Minh City on Friday morning.

The statement said that the sacred remains were received by Dao Nok Dung, Minister of Religious and Ethnic Affairs of Vietnam, Duong Nok, permanent vice -president of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Duong Nok High, Vietnam Buddhist Association’s ‘Supreme Patrik’ Thich Tichi Quang and Vietnam Buddhist Association’s respected monks.

It said that on arrival, special formal prayers were organized at the airport, after which prayers were performed under the leadership of ‘Supreme Patrik’ of the Vietnam Buddhist Association and the sacred remains were placed in the Than Tam Math in the city of Ho Chi Minh city.
