From topless photo shoot to drug racket, Mamta Kulkarni has been linked to controversies, Know Film Career

Mamta Kulkarni, once a famous Bollywood actress, is in the news again. Recently returned to India, she attended Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, where she not only participated in the program but also retired. After this spiritual initiation, Mamta adopted a new name. From now on she will be known as Yamai Mamta Nand Giri. Mamta, who has been away from the people’s eyes for years, is said to have around $10 million (Rs 85 crore).

Mamta Kulkarni’s Bollywood career was successful, she played an important role in many hit films like Hidden Rustom, Sensor, China Gate, Karan Arjun, Naseeb and Tiranga. His performance in these films was highly appreciated and he made a special place in the hearts of the audience with his acting and good looks. However, he has now decided to embrace religious and spiritual life away from the glamorous world. Kulkarni appeared suddenly in the industry, but soon ended.
Disputes still follow him and was one of the main reasons for him to gradually move away from the industry. She has acted in many Bollywood and South Indian films, some of which were hits. Kulkarni has been seen less on screen in recent years. He made his debut with the Tricolor in 1992 and gained recognition in Aashiq Awara (1993). In less than 10 years, he has done more than 50 films in Bollywood and south, he mostly played girlfriend roles and sometimes also played her erotic image. In 1993, Mamta created a lot of stir by giving topless poses for Stardust magazine. This bold step led to a thorough response, threats and even legal problems.
The filmmaker wanted to include Kulkarni in his film songs. However, after receiving threats from Rajan and his colleagues, Kulkarni returned to the film.
 
Given his popularity, Mamta Kulkarni performed various shows in Dubai in the late 90s. During one of his shows, he met Vicky Goswami, a drug dealer and had a relationship with international smugglers . When Goswami was arrested and sent to jail, he allegedly gave all responsibility for his legal activities to Kulkarni. Mamta married Goswami in 2013, but whenever she was asked about her marriage, she refused to accept it. In 2016, she was named as an accused in the 2000 crore drug cases, including Goswami, but she was not living in India and was declared a fugitive. Kulkarni told ANI last year: “Now I am not in touch with him, I last contacted him in 2016.”

The actress shared that her visit to India started in 2000 and now in 2024, she has finally returned. Kulkarni also said that when the plane was about to land, she became emotional for the first time in two decades to see her country from above. Overwhelmed by the significance of her return, she also cried as she exited the international airport in Mumbai.
