In the recent December, Vinod Kambli was admitted to a hospital in Thane after complaining of urinary infection and cramps and was discharged on 1 January. In view of this, Sunil Gavaskar met his doctor the next day and promised to help him. Gavaskar promised that the 1983 World Cup team will help him and he did so. According to the Times of India, Gavaskar will provide assistance to him through his Champs Foundation. 30,000 rupees will be provided for financial assistance every month by this institute, which has started from 1 April. Besides, they will also be provided an annual health assistance of Rs 30,000.
