Recently, the telecommunications department had advised to be vigilant of calls coming from certain foreign codes. These codes include +77, +85, +86, +89. Suspicious calls can be reported on the Santar Saathi portal. This helps DOT block these phone numbers. According to a report by the Ministry of Home Affairs, in the first 10 months of the last few years, scammers in the country cheated around Rs 2,140 crore. In recent years, cyber fraud has increased rapidly. Earlier, India’s Cyber Crime Coordination Center and the DOT blocked at least 17,000 WhatsApp accounts of foreign hackers. Its goal is to destroy foreign criminal networks and increase digital security.
