  3. Well-legged and expired H-1B or F-1 visa, which allows entry more than once in the US
  4. US re -entry permit (wherever applied) – more than 1 year, but for those traveling out of America for less than 2 years
  5. Verification of employment
  6. W-2 form and evidence of Federal Income Tax payment for the last one year.
  7. Pay sleep, salary sleep, or valid income proof for the most recent 3 months
  8. Valid letter from college or university
  9. Valid Document of American Bank Account (at least one primary account)
  10. Legitimate American driving license

In addition, experts have advised passengers to be ready for this:

  1. Those who are returning to America after being abroad for a long time should be prepared for long inquiry with the officials of Customs and Border Protection.
  2. Cooperate in the entire process and remain calm.
  3. Secondary inspection at entry point may take more than two hours.
  4. Additional investigation is likely to be done for more than six months outside the US.
  5. Do not let your green card or visa expire. Get them renewed before the last date.
  6. If a person’s green card is canceled, then there is an option to file an appeal in the USCIS or Immigration Court.
  7. Those who have completed their education in the US under F-1 visa and have switched on H-1B or other work visas may have to face extended investigation.
  8. Those who have ended the H-1B visa over a year ago and they have applied to pursue or renew it, may face additional investigation.
