How EC shoots on foot with its “vote” response

Over the past few months, the ongoing quarrel between the Election Commission (EC) and the opposition Indian group (except the AAM AADMI party) has been unfortunate. India has seen many fierce competitions between the ruling party and the opposition, some as prolonged and intense as anti-emergency movements, but never so direct conflict.

Although questions about EC neutrality and fairness have been raised in the past, the current deadlock (both trading the allegations) marks a new low. Opposition accused the EC of “voting” (theft of votes), and the polling team fought back, saying the allegations were unfounded and damaged the agency’s credibility.
