Can you apply oil on damp hair?

“You can oil when your hair is wet or dry, but your hair and scalp should be clean, or the oil will not be absorbed,” explains Dr. Gupta. For heavier oils like coconut oil, it is better to apply it on dry hair, because the largest molecules may not also penetrate the rod of wet hair. Another way to improve penetration? Use hot oil because the liquefied formula can sink better. “The heat in the form of a hot towel or a hot hair oil is equivalent to chances of absorption.
