IND vs Eng: “I believe that …” Harshit Rana broke silence on the Contingency Substitute controversy, a big statement about debut

In IPL 2024, Harshit Rana performs a different flight of dreams, which is currently deciding his axis with full pleasure in the universe. In a gap of about three months, he has made his debut in all the formats. He first made a Test debut in Australia and on the Indian tour of England, he got the opportunity to debut in T20 and now in ODIs too. On his debut, he took three wickets for 53 runs and played a key role in India won by four wickets in the first ODI.

However, his ODI debut was not as easy. Film Salt, who was with him in the Kolkata Knight Riders team, welcomed Harshit in a very aggressive manner in ODIs. In the third over of his spell, Salt hit three sixes and two fours. Harshit conceded a total of 26 runs in that over. In this situation, the confidence of any young bowler could stagger, but Harshit knew what he had to do and when he came in his second spell, he took two wickets in a single over and pushed England to the backfoot in the match.

During the press conference after the match, he said about his comeback, “I just wanted to lose such ups and downs in cricket. I just did not want to lose my focus and it was an attempt to put the ball where I am trying to put the ball.” And the kind of bowling I was trying to bowl on the same length in the second spell.

In his second spell, Harshit first dismissed Ben Docket on a short ball and Harry Brook on a short of length ball. He took this wicket with a special strategy. Regarding this, he said, “Earlier I wanted to set him up for further, then I wanted to throw short balls and during that time I bowled a good short ball and got a wicket.”

Harshit is one of the few young players who are expressing a lot of confidence in all three formats. There is still time in the Champions Trophy, but the fitness of India’s lead fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is still under doubt for that tournament. In such a situation, giving Harshit a chance in ODI before Arshdeep Singh, may indicate that if Bumrah is not available, Harshit can get a chance.

At the same time, Harshit has also told on his debut in all three formats that he has a lot of ability. He took four wickets on his Test debut. After that, during the T20 series against England, he took three wickets for 33 runs as a Concusion Substitute in Pune and now he has also got three wickets on ODI debut.

Harshit knows that his work in ODIs will not be easy and for that he will need to work hard. He said about this, “This format is different and you have to bowl with different responsibilities in different phase. You have to do something else and then bowl with a different strategy in the death over. It is easy when you practice it.

When Harshit got a chance in the Indian Test team for the first time, there was a lot of talk about his selection. Also, when he got the opportunity to play as the first concentration substitute, there was a lot of ruckus. However, Harshit believes that he knows about his goal well.

He said, “I believe that a lot of things keep happening outside. But how I have to play well for my country. I do not pay any attention to anything. I keep, so I do well whenever I get an opportunity. “
