This information was given in April 2025, the World Economic Outlook issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The report told that India’s Nominal GDP (Nominal GDP) will increase to $ 4,187.017 billion in 2025. At the same time, Japan GDP is estimated to be $ 4,186.431 billion.
India is currently the fifth largest economy in the world. America, China, Germany and Japan are ahead of India in GDP.
India can become 5 trillion economy by 2027
According to IMF estimates, India can also become the third largest economy in the world by beating Germany in the coming years. By 2027, India’s economy can cross the $ 5 trillion mark and during this time the size of GDP is estimated to be $ 5,069.47 billion. At the same time, by 2028, India’s GDP size will be $ 5,584.476 billion, while the size of Germany GDP is estimated to be $ 5,251.928 billion during this period.
India’s GDP growth rate estimated to be 6.2% in 2025
IMF estimates said that the two largest economies in the world, the US and China, can retain their ranking for nearly a decade to come with 2025. The IMF has reduced India’s GDP growth to 6.2 percent for 2025. Earlier, this figure was at 6.5 percent in the January Outlook report.

The report stated that the decrease in growth rate is due to the uncertainty of tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. According to the IMF report, India remains the fastest growing economy in the world. In the next two years, the world will be the only major economy, which will grow at the rate of 6 percent.
