India's 'Water Strike'! Water stopped from Bagihar dam, understand why Pakistan has been protesting

India stopped Pakistan’s water going from Bagalihar dam

After the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, India is ready to put Pakistan in the dock of justice. India has already suspended the Indus Water Agreement. Taking the next step, India has stopped the flow of water through the Bagihar dam on the Chenab River and is planning to take similar steps about the Kishanganga dam on the Jhelum River. According to the report of news agency PTI, a source has given this information.

A source, who is aware of the case, said that the Bagalihar Hydroelectric Dam in Ramban, Jammu and the Kishanganga Hydroelectric Dam in North Kashmir give India the ability to regulate the time of release of water.

Significantly, India has decided to suspend the decades-old Indus Water Treaty after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. 26 people were killed in this attack, mostly tourists. The Indus Water Treaty, conducted by the World Bank’s mediation, has controlled the use of the Indus River and its tributaries between India and Pakistan since 1960.

Why are India-Pakistan face to face on Baggihar Dam?

The Bagihar Dam has been a matter of long dispute between the two neighbors. Pakistan has demanded the mediation of the World Bank in this matter. Pakistan also has objections due to its influence on Neelam, a tributary of Jhelum, especially about the Kishanganga dam.

Now tell you the geography here. The Chenab River originates from Barlachala in Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. In Himachal, these consisting of two rivers, whose names are Chandra and ran. This river again goes to Jammu and Kashmir from Himachal. There is a lot of water flow in this river and the Bagihar dam project has been built on this river in Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir, on which Pakistan has been objecting from the beginning. Actually, India can only make the run of the river project on one of the Western rivers and can stop the water as necessary for power generation. India has used this right. But Pakistan has objected to the design and storage capacity of this dam. In this case, a neutral expert has given the rest of the decision in favor of India, just one and a half meters of the dam.
