IPL 2025: Big reveal of coach flaming about Chennai’s strategy, statement surprised the cricket world

Stephen Fleming Statement About CSK Strategy IPL 2025: Head coach Stephen Fleming said that Chennai Super Kings are “realistic” about their position in this year’s Indian Premier League, but he insisted that the five -time champions would leave no stone unturned to find players for next year. CSK, which was in poor form, suffered a sixth defeat in eight matches when Mumbai Indians defeated him by nine wickets on Sunday, leading to the MS Dhoni -led team to reach the bottom of the points table. CSK fought up to 176/5, but it was not enough on the batting -friendly surface, on which Rohit Sharma (76 not out) and Suryakumar Yadav (68 not out) blown away the guest bowlers.

Fleming told the media, “It is difficult to get excited to stay in the competition when you are playing less than average, but we should do it.” Fleming said that CSK think-tank will learn from such experiences of past to change its luck. Fleming may have been in the mind of what changes his team would have made in 2023, when they won the title after finishing ninth in 2022.

“Nothing will be wasted during this tournament, we will see other tournaments that did not go in our favor and whatever work we have done at the end of the tournament helped us win next year,” he said. “We are realistic about the situation we are in, but the players for the next year, will leave no stone unturned in search of combinations for next year and we will see it as an opportunity,” he said.

Fleming further said, “(this) is not a good opportunity because we want to stay at the end of the competition, but if it happens that there is no possibility of reaching us (in the playoff), then we will definitely take full advantage of it.” The MI batsmen performed brilliantly by scoring 177 runs for one wicket in 15.4 overs, which was completely opposite in CSK’s own innings. Fleming blamed the “lack of confidence” for this.

He said, “We are not trying to play orthodox cricket, we just lack a little confidence and we are changing the players for some reason or the other.” Batting first, CSK set his first boundary at the end of the third over and Ayush Mhatre, who made his 15 -ball 32 runs in 15 balls, managed to reach 48/1 in power play thanks to an aggressive innings of 32 runs. But despite Mhatre’s bravery, CSK came under pressure and put his full strength, while Ravindra Jadeja (53 not out) and Shivam Dubey (50) added 79 runs for the fourth wicket. Fleming said about Jadeja and Dubey’s partnership, “They felt that the ball was stopping, which made it difficult, but we need to be more active all the time.” The partnership brought CSK to 176/5 at the end of 92/3 in 13 overs.

“We are just trying to find a speed that will help us compete and at the moment, we can correct it in one area, but other areas are disappointing us. We are filling holes at one place, but it is still leaking in other places and this happens often when you are below a little fortune.” Fleming further said, “But we will keep trying to correct it and if not, as I said, we will focus our attention to find the players and try to be free for the remaining session.”
