Ajaz Patel Statement on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Odi Future: New Zealand spinner Ejaz Patel feels that India’s batting icon Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have the right to decide on their ODI future amid speculation of retiring from this format after winning the Champions Trophy. Patel, who became the third bowler to take all ten wickets in a Test innings, told ‘IANS’, “He is a great player of the game. Honestly, I think they can decide when they have to stop playing. They can continue to play as long as they want. Both of them are fantastic and they know that they are the best players and I know that it is always worrying to be able to bowl any of them as a bowler.” Patel took all 10 wickets in an innings against India in the Wankhede Test in India in December 2021.
When asked about the New Zealand’s Champions Trophy campaign, the 36 -year -old said, “I think India played good cricket that day. New Zealand performed really well throughout the tournament and we played some great cricket. I think the circumstances definitely made it difficult, but at the end of the day, India played very well and we lost that day.”
Patel is part of the delegation of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, who was on a five -day official visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When he was asked if he would meet Prime Minister Modi, the left -handed spinner said that if he gets a chance then it will be very good. “I am not very certain at this time. We are just waiting and are running according to the program, so let’s see what happens. If we get a chance, it will be very good.”
Patel said, “Yes, I am definitely excited about this journey. It is always good to come back to India. Obviously I am here, but I am representing New Zealand here, so this is a great opportunity and I am really excited by coming here.” Mega Cricket Mahakumbh Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to start from 2025, 22 March. Patel said that this is a great platform for New Zealand players to challenge themselves.
Patel said, “IPL is a very big tournament around the world and it is highly praised all over the world, so it is always exciting to see it. You get to see some great cricket, some best players and obviously the way it is run and its structure is quite impressive. It is quite impressive. It is quite effective for the players of New Zealand to come here and perform on the world stage.”
