Janhvi Kapoor showcases Kashmiri textiles at Toronto Film Festival in a resham sari by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

Janvi Kapoor put on an old, new, borrowed and blue look at the Toronto Film Festival for the first of his film Homebound. A sari resham by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla formed the centerpiece of the outfit, echoing the penchant of the creator duo for complex embroidery, as well as their dedication to preserving Indian craft crafts. With Resham embroidery inspired by the detailed patterns of Jamawar models, the Sari paid tribute to the cashmere heritage.

The combined elements of the stylist Rhea Kapoor of the Archives of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, as well as personal pieces to make the final look of Janhvi. An ancient Jamawar shawl from his own collection was draped on the actress’s shoulders, bordered by silk handy in hand for a lush texture. The Sari was then superimposed with a vintage male jamawar jacket from the 1980s, recycled and reincarnated by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Traditionally, up to 50 colors can be woven in a single Jamawar shawl, with rich shades of red, gold, green and blue being the most popular.

Rhea Kapoor was more inspired by Indian rituals by joining the sari with silver earrings with shoulder that were inspired by the cashmere Dejhur: a traditional bridal ornament transmitted by the generations. A handmade bracelet of Amrapali jewelry and a personalized “Chabi Ka Guccha” by Apala by Sumit finished the look.

Kapoor’s block heels, also designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, reflected the Jamawar patterns of the Sari, but did not look over at all.
