The new film Malayalam L2: Empuran, with Mohanlal directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, has become the center of a hot political debate. The Kerala Congress rents Empuran
The Kerala Congress Social Media Manager said the film highlights the “Sangh program” to divide the Kerala and control its strategic coast and its ports. However, the social media of the Kerala Congress in-Change Balaram said that he had not seen Emopuran and said: “I don’t know how it is. But I think some people did not like it.” The deputy for the Palakkad Congress, Rahul Mamkuthathathil, defended the film in an emotional article on Facebook, indicating similarities with the other controversial film “The Kerala Story”, and criticized “the Haine of Sangh Parivar”. Binish Kodiary, son of the former CPIM secretary, Kodiary Balakrishnan, also praised the film. Kodiary, who is also the joint secretary of the Kerala Cricket Association, said: “In today’s India, if a big budget film says that Sangh Parivar reveals the country by causing riots to Gujarat, then that requires a lot of courage.” The secretary of the state of the BJP, Suresh, said: “Empuran film is not a political problem. The Kerala BJP will not intervene in computer science. Cinema enthusiasts have the freedom to see the film and support it or criticize it.”
Right -handers criticized the film, but the BJP separated from the controversy
A media handle on the right, including Sanatan Dharma, described the film as “anti-hindu”, saying that Prithviraj had cheated Mohanlal and his fans by making such a film. However, the BJP state unit has been separated from controversy and said viewers can express their opinions after watching the film. The secretary general of the state of the BJP, p Sudhir, said that the party has no campaign against the film. He told journalists at Thiruvananthapuram: “The film will work on his way and the party will do his job. The party will not be impressed by any film. Sangh Parivar workers have the right to express their opinions and the public should decide whether it is good or bad.”

L2: The continuation of the film Malayalam 2019 Lucifer was released on March 27, 2025. The film began fantastic while the initial trade estimated that the action thriller won around 22 crores at the national box office. With these beginnings, Empuran has become the biggest opening match for Malayalam cinema. The film features Mohanlal, Sukumaran, Towino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Andrea Tivdar, Jerome Flyn, Indrajit Sukumaran, Eric Aboune and Suraj Venjaramudu.
