Train wreck: shit cruise (June 24)
Train wreck: shit cruise is a captivating documentary that revisits the infamous disaster of the triumph of the 2013 carnival, where a luxury cruise turned into a floating risk for health. This started as a Galveston routine trip to Cozumel spread into chaos after an engine fire eliminated power, leaving more than 4,000 people blocked in the Gulf of Mexico without air conditioning, plumbing or refrigeration. The film tells the horrible conditions that followed, the overflowing toilets, the fortune tents on the bridge and the slow psychological crisis of passengers stuck in stifling dirt. Thanks to images of raw passengers, media coverage and retrospective interviews, the documentary unpacks the company’s missteps, media frenzy and the resilience of those on board.
