Lebanese army started investigating rockets in Israel, suspects arrested

Berut:

Commander General Rhodolf Hekal of the Lebanese Army said that the army is investigating the rocket attack in Israel from Southern Lebanon on Friday. Giving this information, the media said that many suspects have been detained for questioning in this case.
According to the report by the news agency Xinhua, Hekal on Saturday made this statement about the investigation of the attacks during the inspection of the South Litani sector command and military locations on the border.

He warned that rocket attacks from the Lebanese region help the ‘enemy’ and confirmed the role of the army that it would protect the Lebanon and its people beyond political or communal affiliation. Hekl said, “The army is making important efforts to fulfill its missions in the south. The fact has also been recognized by the five -member committee monitoring the United Nations Interim force and the ceasefire in Lebanon.”

He said that the Lebanon is committed to implementing the United Nations resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement in accordance with the instructions of President Joseph Aun and the government’s commitments. Hekel accused Israel of obstructing the complete deployment of the army in the south. He cited his presence in the occupied Lebanese region and repeated violations of the sovereignty of Lebanon.

Let us tell you that Israeli war planes targeted a building in Dahih, the southern Lebanon and the southern suburb of Beirut, after firing rockets in northern Israel on Friday. Official Lebanese sources said that six people were killed and 21 were injured in the Israeli attacks.

Israel was the first attack in the region after November last year on Hizbullah’s stronghold and densely populated area Dahih and it indicates a sharp increase in tension between the two sides, even though a delicate ceasefire. From November 27, 2024, a ceasefire has been applicable between Hizbullah and Israel in the arbitration of the US and France, with enmity crossing the border with the Gaza conflict for more than a year.

However, despite the agreement, Israel has continued to attack the goals in Lebanon citing security threats from Hizbullah.

The Israeli army also remains at five border posts and could not complete the full return deadline of February 18.

According to media reports, at least 117 people have died in Lebanon as a result of Israeli violation since the ceasefire began.
