Make in India’s power, India is becoming the new manufacturing hub of Apple, parts being sent to China-Vietnam

The parts of Apple which used to come from China earlier are now going from India to China. This is one of the biggest achievements of PM Modi’s Make in India Initiative. Apple has started exporting China and Vietnam to Components of Macbook, AirPods, Watch and other products besides iPhone, in addition to iPhone. This is not just an economic victory for India, but a big step towards becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse.
In addition to iPhone, Apple has started making mechanic and enclosure for many products including Macbook, AirPods, Watch, Pencil in addition to iPhone. Companies like Tata Electronics, MOTERSON Group, Jabil and Aequs are making these parts for Apple and are being sent to China and Vietnam, where they are assembled and final products are prepared.
India becomes Apple’s new manufacturing center
ET Report According to, Apple is now preparing a local supply chain for other products besides iPhone in India. Apple has included many Indian and foreign companies to create mechanical components and enclosures in India. Companies such as Jabil (for airpods in Pune), AEQUS (Hubli, MacBook in Karnataka) and MOTHERSON Group (for the enclosure of iPhone) have become part of this mission of Apple.
Make situation changed due to Make in India
Earlier India used to assemble only mobile phones, but now components are also being exported from here. This means that India is gradually becoming an electronics manufacturing hub. This initiative of Apple can prove to be a game-changer for the entire industry, as it will develop a strong ecosystem of component manufacturing in India.
Export target of 35-40 billion dollars by 2030
With this move by Apple, India’s electronics component exports can reach $ 35-40 billion by 2030. The Government of India is also preparing to bring a production linked incentive (PLI) scheme of more than $ 3 billion to promote this sector.
Why is India becoming important for Apple?
“Apple is now coming to India to create iPhone or final products, but also exports from India,” Vice President of Counterpoint Research told ET, ”
This strategy of Apple is a major step towards reducing dependence on China and diversifying the supply chain.
Many Indian companies including Tata Electronics get a big opportunity
Apple has also added Tata Electronics to increase its manufacturing network in India, which is making iPhone enclosures. Apart from this, companies like Jabil and Aequs have also become part of this mission.
Make in India completed 10 years
Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a vision of ‘Make in India’ from the Red Fort on 15 August 2014 and a few weeks later, it was officially launched on 25 September 2014. The purpose of this initiative was to make India global design and manufacturing hubs. In the last decade, a major change has been seen in the manufacturing sector in India under this mission. Today, veteran brands like Apple are not only making their products in India, but components are also being exported from here. This reflects the great success of the vision of ‘Make in India’.
