Former actress of Bollywood Mamta Kulkarni resigned after a dispute between Eharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi and the founder of Kinnar Akhara, Rishi Ajay Das, of the post of Mahamandaleshwar from Kinnar Akhara to Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The dispute occurred due to Mamta when he gave him the title of Mahamandaleshwar. Mamta said that she had left the world of Showbiz to start her spiritual journey and took a new name – Mr. Yamai Mamta Nandagiri. She became Mahamandaleshwar (a respected spiritual leader) during the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on January 24. The yoga guru Baba Ramdev criticized the appointment of the actor as Mahamandaleshwar because he said that no one could reach holiness in a day.Baba Ramdev said to the media portal“The great Kumbh festival in Sanatan, where our roots are connected, is a big festival. It is a sacred festival. Some people add vulgarity, poisoning and inappropriate behavior in the name of Kumbh – this is not the good essence of Mahakumbh.
Rishi Ajay Das published a press release on January 30, 2025 and said: “As the founder of Kinnar Akhara, I am free from the post of Kinnar Akhara Akhamandaleshwar, of Eharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi and the Ocarya Mamamalleshwar.

The dispute revolves around an agreement concluded by Lakshmi in 2019 with Juna Akhara, whom Ajay Das says he would have been done without his approval. He also allegedly alleged that the contract between the two Akhadas was legally invalid because of his consent and his lack of signature. In addition, Ajay Das accused Lakshmi of having weakened the principles of Kinnar Akhara by allowing Mamta of playing the prestigious role of Mahamandaleshwar despite his involvement in criminal activities.
Mamta, who was known for her roles in popular Bollywood films in the 1990s, was far from the spotlight in the early 2000s.However, she returned to India and received the post of Mahamandaleshwar by Lakshmi, a task which has now been subject to a close investigation.
