Matar, who attacked Salman Rushdie, convicted, had 15 stabs

The court has found Hadi Matar guilty in the case of attack on Salman Rushdie, one of the most popular writers in the world. Matar was accused of attempting to kill Rushdie during a lecture in New York in August 2022. In this case, the court has found the allegations right after the debate. It is believed that the convicted Matar is almost certain to be jailed for more than 30 years in this case. However, the court will pronounce his sentence on 23 April. Rushdie received threats to kill Rushdie due to the controversial novel The Satanic Verses.

When Salman Rushdie attacked

Who is Hadi Matar

Born at the fairview of New Jersey, Hadi Matar’s parents came from Lebanon. In the year 2022, the writer came into the discussion worldwide by attacking writer Salman Rushdie. While defending herself during this trial, Matar described himself as innocent. Advocate Andrew Botigan argued that the prosecutors failed to prove that Matar intended to kill Rushdie. Matar’s lawyers could not present any witnesses. After this, the court convicted him.

In this trial, 77 -year -old Rushdie testified in court that he was on stage at the Chautaqwa institution that Hadi was seen running towards him. Within a moment he attacked me.
