Nita Ambani’s Madurai cotton gharchola sari took 10 months to come to life

Nita Ambani’s latest look was an ode to the craftsmanship of India. For a PUJA before the opening of the flagship store of Swadesh in Eros in Mumbai, a cultural initiative dedicated to the revival of the artisanal landscape of India and to bring it to daily conscience, businesswoman and philanthropist chose a look that honored the very spirit of the store.
The Madurai Cotton of Nita Ambani, Gharchola Sari, was woven by 10 months by the craftsman Shri Rajshrundar Rajkot. The Gharchola, whose name literally translates into “House Sari”, is a ceremonial garment deeply rooted in the Gujarati wedding customs.
